From Nebraska
Impact is a juried collective of artists
from Nebraska who work in all media. The exhibition will
showcase two works from each participating artist. Come
support these regional artists.
Julie Rice: A Touch of the West
Julie Rice is known for her agricultural
landscapes and western portraits. In many of her works she
uses a unique and fascinating "touch technique," where she
uses her fingertips and ink to create the images.

Tim Schaffer: Cherries and Cream
Kansas
Citian Tim Schaffer has always been a collector. Since his
youth, he's been fascinated with newspapers, old photographs,
magazines, and images of popular culture. See how he combines
these images from his past with modern techniques and
processes to create unique two-dimensional mixed media
collages.
Susan Shafer: Past Presence
Susan Shafer is an art teacher from Ashland, Ohio who spent a
few years in the early 1960s teaching a combined 5th and 6th
grade class in rural Virginia. The students she met during
those years forever stayed with her, inspiring her to
reconnect with them and their families to discover their
stories. Mrs. Shafer created monoprint portraits based on the
students' school photos and the accompanying text tells the
stories of the students and their adult lives.

Viktor's work is recognized
widely but his name is known by few. The Viktor Schreckengost
National Centennial Exhibition finally gives Viktor a place in
the national spotlight. This spring, over a hundred
exhibitions across the United States are showcasing

stable; parks and churches; public schools and private homes.
The diversity of audiences reached by the National Centennial
Exhibition illustrates Viktor's far-reaching impact into
several industries and art communities, and pays tribute to
the artist's creed that "good design should be available to

Annual Regional High School Art Exhibition
2006 Award Recipients
The mission of the
Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art is to bring the excitement of
American visual arts to the region through education,
temporary exhibitions, the permanent collection, and the
nurturing of regional artists. What better way to nurture
young local talent than through exposure in a museum-sponsored
juried art competition? The annual
Regional High School Art Exhibition is an invitational
exhibition, with nearly 75 schools from Northwest Missouri and
Northeast Kansas asked to participate.
Each full-time art
instructor from the invited schools may submit five original
artworks created during the 2004-2005 school year, not
previously exhibited at the Albrecht-Kemper.
Artwork may be entered into one of seven categories. The works
are judged by a panel of art professionals and awards are
presented in the following seven categories:
